Technically, the temperature of the first-shot material shall be higher than that of the second shot to avoid the second-shot material's overcasting on the first-shot one, that causes materials mix-up and unclear color separation.
However, under this assumption, the mold size will lengthen the production cycle time and a larger injection machine is required. This will lead to an unfavorable situation that customer will afford higher cost in developing new products and markets.
Throughout CLF R&D team's study, the law is broken by injecting TPR in the first-shot and PP in the second. The optimized mold design and production stability are achieved with injection optimization and proper ventilation membrane selection.
Eventually, a cup lid can be made in 8 seconds with the 8-cavity dual-color injection on a rotatory table, with robots' membrane-applying, product removal, stacking and packaging.
